Puffy Girls Club was founded by Shaylla Smith in 2017 as a social media account due to her friend's daughter being bullied at school for her "puffy hair". She started the Instagram page as a way to encourage and uplift young black and brown girls by reaffirming and normalizing their natural crowns. It wasn't until 2024 that her love and passion for textured hair turned into a business. Where she created and launched Puffy Hairfirmations™, hair affirmations for girls with textured hair, along with other apparel and items that encourage girls in their natural hair journey.
